Recura ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Recura mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Username (chosen by you)
- Password (encrypted, never stored in plain text)
Profile Information
You may optionally provide:
- Name and gender
- Age and physical measurements (height, weight)
- Running experience level
- Training goals and preferences
Running & Activity Data
When you use Recura's analysis features, we collect:
- Video recordings for gait analysis (processed locally or on secure servers)
- Biomechanical metrics (cadence, stride length, hip drop, etc.)
- Injury risk assessments and training recommendations
- Progress data and performance history
Device & Usage Information
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- App usage patterns and feature interactions
- Crash reports and performance data
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide personalised running analysis and coaching
- Calculate injury risk scores and prevention recommendations
- Track your progress and generate performance insights
- Enable community features (leaderboards, challenges)
- Send important account and service notifications
- Improve our AI models and app functionality
- Respond to support requests
3. Authentication & Security
We use Firebase Authentication to securely manage your account. Your password is encrypted using industry-standard methods and is never stored in plain text. We implement security measures including:
- Email verification for new accounts
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure cloud storage with Firebase/Google Cloud
- Regular security audits
4. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using:
- Firebase Firestore: Profile data, running metrics, and progress history
- Firebase Storage: Profile images and analysis videos (if uploaded)
- Local Device Storage: Cached preferences and offline data
Data is stored in secure data centres operated by Google Cloud Platform, with servers primarily located in the EU and US.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Service Providers: Firebase (Google) for authentication and storage, analytics providers for app improvement
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
- With Your Consent: Community features like leaderboards display usernames publicly
6. Analytics
We use analytics to understand how users interact with Recura and to improve the app. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify individual users. You can opt out of anonymous usage analytics in the app settings.
7. Subscriptions & Payments
If you subscribe to Recura Pro:
- Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store)
- We do not receive or store your payment card details
- We receive confirmation of your subscription status
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Update inaccurate information in your profile
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Withdraw Consent: Opt out of optional data collection
9. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time:
- Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account

Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal purposes.
10. Children's Privacy
Recura is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Recura after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
