Terms of
Service

Last Updated: June 2026 Effective: June 2026 England & Wales

Plain English summary: By using Recura you agree to these terms. Recura provides AI gait analysis and ranked 1v1 running duels — it is not a medical service. Use it sensibly, don't cheat, respect other users. We can suspend accounts that break these rules.

Welcome to Recura. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Recura mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Recura ("we", "us", or "our"), a sole trader business based in the United Kingdom.

By downloading, creating an account, or using Recura, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

01 / Eligibility

To use Recura, you must:

If you are aged 13–17, a parent or guardian should review these Terms with you before you use Recura.

02 / Description of Service

Recura provides two core features:

About duel opponents and leaderboards: Recura is a live competitive service. So that you always have an opponent to race and divisions are never empty, some duels and some leaderboard entries may be against AI-simulated runners rather than live human players. Simulated runners follow the same ranking rules as human players. We do not represent that every opponent or leaderboard entry is a live human.

Recura does not provide personalised coaching, physiotherapy, sports medicine, or any form of medical advice. Gait analysis outputs are for informational purposes only and do not constitute professional health guidance of any kind.

03 / Account Registration

To use Recura, you must create an account with a valid email address, a username, and a secure password. You are responsible for:

You may only hold one account. Creating multiple accounts to gain competitive advantage, evade suspension, or manipulate rankings is strictly prohibited.

04 / Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

05 / Health and Medical Disclaimer

Important — please read carefully. Recura is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or physiotherapy of any kind. All gait analysis, biomechanical metrics, and scores are for general informational and entertainment purposes only.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Recura accepts no responsibility for any physical injury, health issue, or harm arising from your use of the Service or reliance on any gait analysis output.

06 / Ranked Duels and Competitive Features

The 1v1 duel and ranking system is a competitive feature for entertainment and motivation. You acknowledge that:

07 / Subscriptions and Payments

Free Tier

Basic features of Recura are available at no cost.

Recura Pro

Premium features require a paid subscription managed entirely through Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Free Trial

If a free trial is offered, you will have full Pro access during the trial. You will be charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before expiry. Each user is eligible for one free trial per account.

08 / Intellectual Property

All content, features, software, design, graphics, trademarks, and branding within Recura are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or exploit any part of our content or Service without our prior written consent; use our name, logo, or branding without authorisation; remove proprietary notices; or reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code from the app.

09 / Your Content and Data

You retain ownership of content you create, including videos submitted for analysis and your profile information. By using Recura, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to process your videos and movement data to provide the gait analysis Service; store and display your username and ranking on public leaderboards; and use anonymised, aggregated gait movement data to improve our AI and — with your consent — share it with academic researchers as described in our Privacy Policy. This licence terminates when you delete your account, subject to any legal retention obligations.

10 / Account Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account without prior notice if you violate these Terms, engage in cheating or fraudulent behaviour, harass other users, fail to pay applicable subscription fees, or use the Service in a way that could harm Recura, other users, or third parties.

You may delete your account at any time via Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Personal data will be removed within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11 / Disclaimers

Recura is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties including that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free; that gait analysis results will be accurate or complete; that the Service is fit for any particular purpose; and that errors or defects will be corrected. We do not warrant that using Recura will improve your running performance or prevent injury.

12 / Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales, Recura and its owner shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; loss of data, profits, revenue, or business opportunities; physical injury, health deterioration, or harm resulting from use of the Service or reliance on any gait analysis output; damages arising from inability to use the Service; or unauthorised access to your data beyond our security obligations under UK GDPR.

In any event, our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

13 / Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Recura and its owner from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service in violation of these Terms; your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights; or any content you submit to the Service.

14 / Changes to the Service and These Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible. We may update these Terms from time to time and will notify you of material changes via the app or email before they take effect. Continued use of Recura after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept updated Terms, stop using the Service and delete your account.

15 / Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Recura shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.

16 / Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary, or severed if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

17 / Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Recura regarding your use of the Service and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
